The CanDO! Project, is a program developed by The GCAP to provide navigation services to community support resources and educational opportunities for people affected by cancer. It stands for Cancer Distress is Over!
The goal of The GCAP's community-based navigation project, the CanDO! Project, focuses on identifying and eliminating psycho-social barriers to allow ALL people affected by cancer to focus on their medical treatment; leading to improved health outcomes and an overall reduction in cancer-related distress.
Program services are available free of charge for any type of cancer.
What does the CanDO! Project do?
*Provides immediate community-based patient navigation services at time of intake
*Offers connections to appropriate and available community resources to help patients deal with non-medical issues which a cancer diagnosis can impact
*Provides follow-up in three months from date of intake to assess levels of distress and identify any new issues
Non-medical needs the CanDO! Project can address:

Television cable bills and bills related to hospital copayments or other medical bills will will not be accepted. All funding is based on need and available The GCAP funds. Should a grant be approved, a check will be issued ONLY to a third party such as the electric company or landlord.
* Grants are limited to one per year and are capped based on a needs assessment and available funds. GCAP may only distribute a grant of a maximum of $120* per GYN cancer patient each calendar year.
